There are a lot of people to keep track of, and a lot of interesting aspects to everyone’s personalities. Fortunately, we have all of the answers to any burning questions you might have, so you can understand some of the excitement of this series.

Where are each of the girls from?

Even though the fictional Essex college is in Vermont, each of the suitemates come from a very different location. Leighton Murray (Reneé Rapp) comes from Manhattan in New York. The chic city lifestyle has influenced a lot of her personality. Kimberly Finkle (Pauline Chalamet) comes from Gilbert, Arizona, which is presented as a small predominantly white town. That can make Kimberly sheltered and she does not always know how to fit in with her cool rich classmates. Whitney Chase (Alyah Chanelle Scott) is from Seattle, Washington, which could explain her cool demeanor. Bela Malhotra (Amrit Kaur) is from Nutley, New Jersey, which audiences only know from her door wall, and it is hard to say how that affects her lifestyle. All of the girls come from different places, but they all come together at this liberal arts college.

What are each of the girls’ interests?

The four girls each have very different interests, but that makes them all fun to watch. Leighton is really into sorority life and she really wants to join the coolest sorority on campus, Kappa. She also loves fashion and always tries to be the best dressed. Whitney is really into playing soccer. It is her whole life and she devotes a lot of her time at the beginning of college to being the best soccer player on the field, trying to prove that her politician mother did not help her in any way. Bela is really into comedy writing, and she is passionate about writing for the school’s comedy magazine. Comedy writing is what she wants to do with her life. She also likes to have some fun hookups in between all of the comedy writing. Kimberley is still figuring out what she likes in her free time, besides maybe partying, but she is devoting a lot of her time to her job at the campus coffee shop in the meantime. Everyone has different interests, but the girls are all still great friends.

What are each of the girls studying?

Even though the main girls are freshmen, they have a basic idea of what they want to study. While at Essex College, Whitney discovers that she has a real knack for biochemistry. After taking a class in it, she decides that her major is going to be bio chemistry as she had never loved a subject like this before. Leighton has always had a natural talent for math. When she gets to college, she discovers just how good she is at it, and thinks that she might be a math major. Kimberely is trying a bunch of different classes to figure out what she wants to major in, but a lot of them might be difficult. She has had struggles in French and economics classes, but she seems to have had some luck in literature classes, so she could find a passion there. Bela does not seem to have much interest in school and does not care much about the classes she takes. However, since she loves comedy writing, she could be an English or creative writing major. College is a time to explore what you want to pursue, and these girls are definitely exploring.

Who are each of the girls’ main love interests?

While some of them may be having casual hookups, all of the girls have some main love interests that they are pursuing. Bela, in particular, is really big into the casual hookups. However, the editor at the campus comedy magazine Eric may have caught her eye. Is Bela ready for a real relationship? Leighton spent a lot of the time in the closet, where she was dating women’s center member Alicia. However, when that relationship blows up in Leighton’s face, cool and stylish Tatum might be someone to pursue. Whitney has really liked being with Kimberly’s coworker Canaan, until insecurities get in the way. Then her biochemistry classmate Andrew might be of interest. Kimberly has been spending a lot of time with Leighton’s brother Nico. However, that relationship does not go well, so she might want to be with the girls’ muscular neighbor Jackson. These girls have a lot of options, and there is no better time than college to explore them.
