Beware of spoilers ahead!
Deadpool & Wolverine had a masterful list of cameos featuring Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Blade (Wesley Snipes), The Human Torch (Chris Evans), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and many more. However, nothing was quite as epic as Ryan Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, a notable actress in her own right, taking the stage as Ladyppool.
Blake Lively is indirectly mentioned throughout the series, especially when Wade’s (Ryan Reynolds) name drops Gossip Girl from time to time. Lively’s most popular role is Serena Van Der Woodsen. But nothing was as epic as seeing her in action as Lady Deadpool in the third act. Defending against Cassandra Nova, who sought to destroy all the multiverses with a time-ripping crunch, various Deadpool variants—ranging from a floating skull to Babypool, different versions of Wade Wilson—were at the front lines defending. Leading this group was none other than Ladypool.
Who Played Ladypool in Deadpool & Wolverine?
Since the reveal of her appearance in the trailer came to fruition, many speculated about who it could be. Some argued that Reynolds might be playing her himself, while others thought it could be Gigi Hadid, considering she appeared on the red carpet in a Wolverine-inspired outfit with a Deadpool figurine in her purse. However, many people believed Lively was, in fact, Lady Deadpool, given her red suit-inspired jumpsuit and the fact that her husband plays the role. Although her face is never shown on camera, making it possible she wasn’t physically playing her, she most definitely provided the voice, as she is credited at the end of the movie as the character.
Much like her male counterpart, Wanda Wilson is a loudmouth and talks nonsense. However, she can heal herself. Living in Earth-3010, Wanda Wilson exists in a world of government forces. The creator, Rob Liefeld, actually based Lively as the character’s image all the way back in 2010. In 2022, he and his wife were fans of Gossip Girl and thought she would be perfect as the character’s outline. “Invoked Blake on GG, and they gave me the thumbs up. Serena van der Woodsen forever!” he wrote.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds met on the set of Green Lantern and soon became a couple. Although the movie didn’t do well at the box office or with critics and fans alike, it did do something right by putting these two together. Regardless of their iconic collaboration, they most likely won’t work together again, considering they tend to work in entirely different genres. Yet it was a treat nonetheless for fans.
Deadpool & Wolverine is out in theaters.
