Which Shadow and Bone books are in the show?

While there are many books in the Shadow and Bone series, the television series has only followed a few of them so far. However, in addition, there are some plots and characters in the television series that come from the popular spinoff, Six of Crows. Season two of the television series begins to follow the other two books of the main trilogy, Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising. How did Netflix change the Shadow and Bone original story?

Overall, the television series has received positive reviews from critics. The first season got better reviews than the second season, but both seasons are certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Bardugo also gave her approval to the plot choices in the adaptation. However, fans of the books are not 100% happy with the adaptation. Some fans were expecting more excitement and intrigue, which has not been delivered completely. Other fans have said that the inclusion of Alina facing “fantasy” racism, from being half Ravka and half Shu Han, is unnecessary to the story as well as uncomfortable to watch. There are also storylines going on, which makes the series feel like it is rushing through. Other fans feel that the series does not capture all of the themes and energy of the novel, particularly in season 2. These critiques demonstrate some natural adaptation problems, but that does not mean that fans are completely disappointed. For the most part, fans like the television series, the plot, and the cast. In particular, fans like how the character Mal, played by Archie Renaux, was written. When fans watch season 3, we will see how much of the success the television series can be.
