Why The Idol is Already the Craziest TV Show of the Year

What is the behind-the-scenes drama on The Idol?

HBO’s new series “The Idol” starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp is supposed to be an intense drama… but it turns out most of the drama is actually playing out off-screen.

The show’s director and other high-profile crew members reportedly left after major creative differences.

And while the show was already around 80% complete, the new director Sam Levinson allegedly scrapped everything and started over.

“The Idol” was initially supposed to be a feminist look at how toxic the music industry is, but new info says it’s turned into something darker after the “Euphoria” creator took over… which isn’t surprising given his past issues.

And after Rolling Stone reported on all the set controversy, The Weeknd tweeted out a pointed clip, seemingly in response.

“Rolling Stone? Aren’t they a little irrelevant?”

While some are excited to see their favorite celebs (like BLACKPINK’s Jennie!) others are tired of Levinson’s exploitative content.
