How I Met Your Mother‘s Tracy is a perfect match for Ted, and kind of perfect just in general. But, as we learn in the finale, the show’s framing is a red herring, because this series isn’t actually about Tracy. This pivot turns Tracy into a “stepping stone” love interest, just a plot device along the way to the main event.
