Did the Dardennes Shoot Many Takes for “Two Days, One Night”?

The Dardennes are known for shooting extensive takes for their films, and this one was no exception. Part of the reason for so many takes was the Dardennes’ preference for filming scenes as long, uninterrupted takes, meaning takes as long as seven minutes had to be executed without mistakes in order to be usable. One particular scene, when Cotillard’s character goes from the bathroom to the bedroom and falls, had 82 takes, reportedly the most of any scene shot for the film.
