Cassandra Nova is the main supervillain in Deadpool & Wolverine. Because of her telepathic abilities, she could arguably be the most powerful threat to the entire world.

Who is Cassandra Nova in the comics?

Cassandra Nova is a part of the bodiless parasite known as the living emotional energy, Mummudrai. She was the unborn twin sister of Charles Xavier, who had the ability to copy his DNA, creating its own body. Inside the womb, Xavier tried to kill Cassandra, causing her physical ailments, but still, she survived, as her chaotic cellar matter plunged to sewer walls. She spent decades recreating her physical form and perfecting how to replicate human traits. Her entire goal is to destroy her brother, and she tries to enact this many times in many different ways throughout the comics.

Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine

Cassandra’s origins significantly change in the movies, as instead of Xavier trying to kill her in the womb, the TVA discards her in a place that defies time and space: the Void. She has been there since she was an infant and has only everknown the Void as her home. She has the power to read minds if her fingers are within reaching distance of the mind, to physical circle around the brain. She also has telekinesis, where she can move objects with little to no effort. Being an Omega-x level mutant, she is not someone you want to mess with, but alas, that’s where the fun lies inside the film Deadpool & Wolverine.

Who Plays Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine?

Emma Corrin (they/them) plays the vindictive character. You may recognize them from The Crown, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, or My Policeman. Corrin’s acting abilities have been conditioned to strictly serious roles, but this time, they can have more fun by playing a nefarious character out for vengeance on the world for condemning Cassandra to the Void.

Audiences will be amazed and intrigued by Cassandra Nova’s origins as she is one of the first major villain mutants introduced inside the MCU, opening the doors to many more foes like Magneto. All in all, Deadpool & Wolverine opened a can of worms when it came to mutants, considering there is no such thing in the current main universe 616, at least not to our knowledge. But with Deadpool, anything can happen as he tends to veer off by breaking the fourth wall whenever he sees fit.
