Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan (2010) creates a subjective cinematic experience to draw audiences into the unhinged inner world of ballerina, Nina (Natalie Portman), as she stars in Swan Lake. The cinematography by Matthew Libatique uses handheld, dynamic camera, mirror shots, black and white contrasts and hidden imagery to visualize the invisible workings of Nina’s mind.
